Throughout my life, I have been interested in relationships. The relationships within ourselves (body, mind, energy, spirit) and between ourselves and the environment.
In the early years of my career, I worked in Physical Therapy and I learned firsthand about the body/mind relationship in injury, trauma, and healing. I also learned how important relationships can be in the healing process. I also had to recover from my own list of injuries and car accidents, etc. including a knee reconstruction from a soccer injury. I am so lucky to have found some amazing practitioners to help me on my path to healing.
In 1989, I founded Somatic Therapy Associates. Somatic is defined as "the living body in its wholeness". When we work from a somatic perspective, we look for balance and healing in the body, the mind, the spirit, the community and in the environment. Somatic Therapy Associates started with just me and then grew over time to have an amazing staff with multiple locations. We consulted with one another and collaborated with other wellness businesses to help them deepen and expand their practices. By working together, we all grew and were able to help more people improve the quality of their lives than I could ever have done alone.
Since those early days, I have gathered over 30 years of experience and training in integrative bodywork and exercise, Physical Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy and Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Most recently, I became a Reiki Master and completed practitioner training in Embodied Mindfulness.
I am a recently widowed mother of two amazing young boys who keep me on my toes and make me laugh every day. I am also a caregiver for my father who has early dementia. My life journey has certainly deepened my understanding about loss and love and healing. I have worked in many different roles and have had the opportunity to share my experiences and training to help people of all ages with many types of problems. I am deeply honored to have witnessed so many people find healing and more happiness in their lives.
